Our office specializes in fitting gas permeable rigid contact lenses . Eye doctors from California to Florida come to our Sacramento office to learn the latest advancements in contact lens fitting and design. A frequently asked question is why Drs. Buffington and Lilley spent over 27 years developing such a sophisticated contact lens laboratory. The answer is our office is committed to the highest quality contact lens care in the country, and our lab allows us to achieve this objective.

WHY A CONTACT LENS LAB IS ESSENTIAL

Same day fitting

We see patients from 49 states and 21 foreign countries. These patients need to be fit with custom RGP's the day they are in our office. They don't have the time for us to order their lenses from a laboratory. We fit over 95% of all of our patients the same day they have their eye exams, usually within an hour or two.

Precision lenses

We have the lab equipment to make extremely exact, highly reproducible RGP lenses. Most patients see better and feel improved comfort with our custom lenses.

New lens designs

Our lab allows us to try new lens designs for the hard to fit, such as keratoconic and corneal transplant patients. In addition we fit patients for our orthokeratology program and even bifocal contact lenses..

Lens adjusting

No two corneas are the same, they vary just like fingerprints. We adjust the fit of the RGP lenses as patients return for follow-up visits. Our technicians can polish your lenses, change power, change the fit and carefully adjust the edges as well. Adjusting the lenses in our office results in better vision and comfort while you wait.

Creativity

Our lab is our hands on source of creativity. We are continually developing new RGP designs. For example, we have just created a new RGP design that keeps dust and dirt from getting under the lenses, unlike prior RGP lenses. (This design is called an advanced geometry lens, or AGL). Our patients are extremely pleased with these results!! Basically, having our lab and developing new designs is just plain fun!

When you are in our office please ask for a tour of the lab, we would love to show it to you!
