No Surgery...
Just Great Vision!
CRT Introduction:

Are you looking for a healthier, reversible, tried and true alternative to LASIK vision correction? If so, corneal refractive therapy (CRT) may be perfect for you. The CRT program is an FDA approved method for vision correction based on ORTHOKERATOLOGY, a process that uses special fitting rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses to mold your cornea into the specific shape needed to see 20/20 uncorrected. Specifically, the CRT lens is the latest RGP lens design developed with the intent of giving you excellent uncorrected vision during the day with the use of a very specifically custom fit RGP CRT lens to wear while you sleep at night .

Our board certified doctors, Drs. Buffington, Lilley and Rembleski, have over 70 years of combined orthokeratology experience. They have also been specifically certified to fit the Paragon CRT, and have performed extensive FDA clinical trials for this lens to maintain approval in the United States. Our experienced doctors, helpful staff, and state-of-the-art facility ensure that your lenses will fit perfectly and will give you the confidence that you are seeing your best without the lenses during the day. If you are interested in becoming a candidate for Corneal Refractive Therapy, please read the information below or browse our website (view Testimonials) and then contact our office for an appointment.
Finally, great vision
and freedom from
glasses and daytime contacts.
General Information:

You just woke up from a restful night’s sleep. But as you start your day, you notice something different. You can see without your glasses or contacts. And you haven’t had surgery. Well, you’re not dreaming. You’re just experiencing Corneal Refractive Therapy with nighttime vision correction that gives you freedom from glasses and contacts all day without refractive surgery.

CRT is a specially designed therapeutic contact lens that gently reshapes the cornea while you sleep. Through intense research and clinical testing, CRT has been proven both safe and effective for patients of all ages when worn during sleeping hours, earning this therapy FDA approval for night time use. The result for you is great vision 24 hours a day – without the lenses during waking hours and while they’re in at night – with correction of myopia (nearsightedness) and myopia with astigmatism.
No more torn lenses, no more broken frames, no more discomfort from dry eyes. CRT puts an end to these hassles. Whether you’re playing sports, working in a dusty or windy environment, or simply applying makeup, with Corneal Refractive Therapy nothing stands between you and excellent vision. You just wear CRT lenses while you sleep and take them out when you wake up – it’s that simple. And because you can stop the therapy at any time without permanent change to your eyes, you have ultimate control and flexibility in your vision correction.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is CRT?
Corneal Refractive Therapy is a technologically advanced, non-surgical process, which reshapes the cornea while you sleep. You remove the lenses when you awake and are able to go throughout the day without any other correction.

Is CRT permanent?
No, it’s temporary. If you stop wearing the lenses your vision will return to its original state in as little as 72 hours.
Is everyone a candidate for CRT?
Not everyone can wear the CRT lens. This lens is designed for individuals with low to moderate myopia (nearsightedness up to –6.00 diopters) with or without astigmatism (up to –1.75 diopters). There are no age restrictions for CRT, which makes it a great option for everyone in the family. However, since there are variations in patient physiology and visual needs, the decision for CRT, at any age, can only be made after a thorough eye exam by one of our doctors.
How long does it take to reach and maintain good vision throughout waking hours?
Most patients have rapid improvement in the first few days of treatment and achieve nearly their optimum vision in 7 to 14 days.
Are there any risks involved with wearing CRT lenses?
There is a small risk involved when any contact lens is worn. There were no serious adverse events observed in any of the Paragon CRT FDA clinical studies including the study conducted in our office.
Can I see with my CRT lenses in?
Yes. One of the great features of the CRT lens is that you will be able to see clearly with you lenses on and off!
How often will I have to replace my CRT lenses?
Generally speaking the CRT lenses may have to be replaced yearly.
How do I care for my CRT lenses?
Your lenses should be disinfected after every use. Your eye doctor will instruct you about which care system is best for you.
What if I wear bifocal glasses or bifocal contact lenses?
No problem! Our doctors have successfully fit individuals that have a bifocal prescription with CRT so that they have great uncorrected vision at all distances, far and near.
Why does Buffington Eye Care excel in Corneal Refractive Therapy?
Not only do our doctors have over 70 years of combined orthokeratology experience, they have been specifically certified by Paragon to fit the CRT, and specifically chosen by Paragon to conduct clinical trials for the CRT lens in our office. Our facility houses our very own in-office contact lens laboratory enabling us to fine tune the way a certain contact lens fits on an individual eye. Since the success of Corneal Refractive Therapy hinges on how well the lens centers and fits on the eye, our experience and advanced facility are key in creating exceptional post-contact lens wear vision.
